Chapter One · A Global Family

different hands.
Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū has been carried far from Chiba. Today, official shibu and study groups exist across Japan, Europe, the Americas and Oceania — all rooted in the Shinbukan Dōjō, all transmitting the same forms, the same etiquette, the same patience.
Athens is one of these places. We travel to the others.

The global family is not an institution. It is a habit — of bowing, of attention, of seriousness. Every shibu trains its own way. Every student bows the same way.
