Bio

A long road,
walked patiently.

Katori Shintō-ryū Athens was created by a small group of practitioners, led by Angelos Kitsikis, who was awarded the shidōsha license — the license to transmit the tradition in Athens — in July 2025, after practicing Katori Shintō-ryū for years.

Origins

From karate to the source.

His background in traditional Japanese martial arts began at a very young age, practicing Karate for more than 15 years before meeting his first Sensei in this art. Since then, he has traveled to Japan many times, and to many more places around the world, to deepen his practice.

A quiet path,
walked patiently.

The shidōsha license is not awarded lightly. It marks years of training, multiple journeys to the source, and a commitment to passing the art forward exactly as it was received.

15+ Years of karate Foundation in traditional Japanese martial arts, from a young age.
Katori practice Direct study under Sensei lineage, leading to the Athens shibu.
× Trips to Japan Repeated pilgrimages to Chiba, training at the source.
2025 Shidōsha license Awarded July 2025 · authorized to transmit the tradition in Athens.

Teaching is not invention.

“We pass it down. Nothing more, nothing less.” · Shidōsha approach

The shidōsha is a steward, not a creator. Each form is taught the way it was learned — slowly, precisely, with care for the student’s character as much as their technique.

At Bushinkan Dōjō, students of every age and background are welcomed who come with sincere intent. Those who stay become part of a small, deliberate community.

Sincere students
are always welcome.
